The shift quality of the C6/Z06 has room for improvement. That being said, it is just a matter of time until the stories of transmission failures get more frequent. Don't spoil a track event, or better yet, keep your new Z06 off a rollback. RPM has put together a drivetrain package upgrade. Here is a rundown of the package:
Transmission:
Complete teardown and inspection
Clean all components internal/extrernal
Replace all damaged or worn parts
Hand-fit all hubs and slider assemblies
Micropolish all internal components
Install RPM modified 1-2 shift fork
Install RPM billet synchronizer keys (1-6)
Install RPM bronze shift fork pads (1-6)
Reassemble, checking all clearances and setting to RPM specs
Replace all seals and tailhousing gasket
Differential:
Complete teardown and inspection
Clean all components internal/external
Micropolish all internal components
Install RPM 300M heavy duty RH output shaft
Install RPM 300M heavy duty LH output shaft
Install HD clutch preload springs
Reassemble checking all clearances and setting to RPM specs
Replace seals and rear pump gasket
With this package you will notice improved shift quality, the units will run cooler, and most importantly the transmission will withstand a lot more shifting abuse.
Additional options include:
Extreme duty transmission cooler pump modification: Under heavy extended acceleration the transmission fluid is forced to the rear of the case starving the front gear sets for lubrication and causing the pump to cavitate. We have an extended pump pick up tube allowing the pump to pick up fluid from the rear of the case. Then, the case is modified/welded to accept a new fitting in the proper location for the cooled return oil to be sprayed on the input and cluster gear set. These are at the very front of the transmission and are ALWAYS the gear set to be damaged from heat and lack of lube. These modifications cost $295.00
