6L80

Good Afternoon. I was looking on the corvetteforum, and saw several people talking about getting a 6L80 installed in their Z06's. How many have you guys installed and are they having any issues? I am looking at doing this possibly with my 2009 Z06 as I am getting tired of the stick. Car is stock so far, and I plan to keep it under 500RWHP. I want to be sure this conversion works (i.e. has a track record) as this is my daily driver. Thanks!

We have converted close to 10 C6 Z06's now. We are actually doing two more at the moment. If you have any concerns, give TJ a call at 1-800-406-1109. He can tell you all about it and maybe even give you some references. We are going to shoot some video of these after they are done so people can see how well the behave and drive.

I will be getting a twin turbo set up and plan on running around 500 rwhp daily with between 600 to 700 every once in a while on the track. So I am def going to upgrade my transmission. I have heard great things about RPM Tranmissions and have been told that the 6L80 is the route to go. I just want to confirm this. If so, how will this affect the daily driving characteristics of the car and the gas mileage? Thanks

I wouldn't recommend a 6L80E with that much power. The 500 would probably be fine, but I wouldn't go much over that. A good tune is the best route to make these transmissions work. However, not that many people are familiar with tuning these yet.

I've been following the same threads on a 6L80 into a Z06.

If a guy wanted a strictly street car and wanted the LPE 630 package, in what sequence should the work be done, you first and then LPE or LPE first and then you? Should the rear ratio be reduced to 2.79 as in the performance 6A? Stall ratio?

Thanks
